On July 7, 1898 the Hawaiian Islands were annexed to the United States, without due process or just compensation to the Queen, by a decision of the United States Congress.
On August 21, 1959 the Territory of Hawaii became the fiftieth state as U. S. President Eisenhower signed an order to admit it to the union.
